My monthly gal pal was a little late and not only brought cramps, but worsened my already shaky stomach. This morning at 8am, before going to bed, I felt all sorts of disgusting. It was one of those occasions where you toss and turn in bed feeling awful until you find that one position that makes you feel better so you can actually sleep.
Fast forward to 7pm when I finally felt a little better, enough that I could drag myself over to my aunt's house to take care of their cat while they're on vacay. Yeah, sounds boring, but I adore cats and therefore have no problem doing it. That, and I have no other commitments and it's basically my only time out of the house. Right. Anyway, I rewarded myself by going to Target and spending way too much money. If you ever go to Target without having a specific item in mind.. you are guaranteed to spend over $40. Or at least I am. And Melissa. Because she came up with that observation.
So today my food intake was as follows: a third of a bag of Spinach and Artichoke tortilla chips, a third of a box of Annie's Cheddar Bunnies (which are, by the way, delicious), a pasta-and-shrimp Lean Cuisine of some sort, ice cream (hey, my mom got the sprinkles I wanted.. I had to have some), a handful of raisins, and some romaine lettuce with balsamic vinegar dressing. Yup. Soooooo healthy.
On top of that, you can see that I'm also not sleeping any better, as it is now 5:30am. Way to go, me. Way. To. Go.
One of these days, I'm actually going to follow through with these ambitious plans to be healthy and change my life and blah blah blah. (Maybe adding 'blah blah blah' to the end of the statement isn't the best way to show I'm serious about this stuff...) Okay. Today is the day. I'm putting it in writing. List time? You betcha.
My Health Goals
- Minimize/eliminate junk food intake. I can settle with just minimizing it, because I know I'm very badly addicted to food that's bad for me. Also, I tend to struggle a little bit with what I define as "junk" food. For example, the aforementioned Annie's Cheddar Bunnies are made with all natural ingredients.. basically the healthy version of Goldfish. I would still consider that a step forward.
- MOAR FRUITS AND VEGGIES. I really, really need to step this up, not only for my general health, but to help with my various stomach issues.
- Drink a LOT more water. See reasoning for Bullet Point #2.
- Exercise. I've been walking more, so I'm going to pat myself on the back a little bit for this. I want to start walking every day (except if it's raining) and try to throw in some other random stuff every other day. Like crunches. I'm a big fan of crunches because they work.
- Sleep like someone who's not nocturnal. I hope that if I get to sleep in the next hour, I can haul my lazy ass out of bed before 1pm and be tired enough to sleep at a regular hour tomorrow night.
I hope.
